One World One Heart Giveaway

Hello - welcome! I'm thrilled to be a participant in the "One World One Heart Giveaway" Last year was my first year, and it was soooo much fun. Be prepared to sit at your computer for hours browsing through blogland, and discovering some very talented people out there. Click on the OWOH icon on my right side bar (or here) to find a list of all the blogs participating in this event.
Here's how it works: starting tonight (at midnight) the list of participants will start to be loaded up onto the OWOH site. All you have to do is have a little browse through the blogs (be prepared for eye candy overload - have the tea and cookies ready). If you'd like to be entered to win a person's giveaway, leave a comment on their post (ends Jan 17th). Easy peasy!

I have 3 giveaways. The first is this trio of recycled items: a recycled lid that I turned into a butterfly themed magnet, a recycled scrabble tile that I turned into a crow themed brooch pin, and a recycled rummikub tile that I turned into an owl themed necklace.

My second giveaway is this necklace that I made out of a recycled china plate piece.

My third giveaway is this beeswax coated, collaged bird ornament that I made out of bits and pieces of old ephemera, postage stamps, wire, sparkle and pan pastels.

If you'd like to be entered to win one of these, all you have to do is leave a comment below!

Here are the winners!

Draw #1 went to #49 - "Janine":

Draw #2 went to #237 - "Jen":

Valentine Door Hanger Swap

The Canadian Chickies group has another swap going on: "Retro Valentines Door Hanger Swap". I made this for my partner, but I'm a little worried that I didn't really to a "retro" themed hanger.

Hopefully I've made up for it by using a box of chocolates as part of my swap!

I just need to add a ribbon hanger on the top and it's all done.

Fun Cookies

Today I just couldn't resist buying these flying pig cookies from one of the local bakeries, "Uprising Breads".

When I got home, I saw that a friend sent me a link for these cookies!

She saw these cookies and immediately thought of my HUGE jar of Scrabble tiles! She plans on making them with her home ec class.

Here's the recipe and instructions from "Just a Taste".

Etsy Treasury

I've recently opened up a new etsy shop, using my new name: RavensRestStudio. I've only put a few things up (more to come!), and am tickled pink to see one of my birds up in a fun treasury! My old etsy shop is under my name: JenniferConway, but I started to ignore it to the point of not having anything at all in it. I have people at shows ask me all the time where they can buy my stuff online, and I sheepishly tell them that yes, I am on etsy, but it's badly neglected.......very badly neglected! So I'm starting from scratch with no hearts, no feedback, no sales.....until today! I've been working on some new things, which I'll add to the shop soon!

Just Working Away

I guess I really burnt myself out during the busy Christmas Craft Fair season, staying up late, late, late every night. Now I can barely keep my eyes open past 11:30pm! I've been slowly working on some new cards, diving into my large stash of glitter.

Martha Stewart's "Green Agate" glitter is near the top of my favourite's list!

Here's the infamous glue brush in action!

I don't know if you need to be a certain age, and/or from certain parts of the U.S. and Canada to really "get" this video, but I got a giggle out of this:

Prototype Doll

I just wanted to share this doll that my mom is working on.

Isn't she great? She's a prototype, and I just love her - can't wait for her to make more!

Beeswax Crows and Birds

I FINALLY finished these crows and birds! Geez louize these took me a while to finish off.

I plan on reviving my etsy shop - it's been a long while since I've listed anything on etsy. This time I'll be starting from scratch with a brand new shop under the name: "RavensRestStudio", instead of "JenniferConway".

A Couple of Bird Collages

Here's a couple of encaustic bird collages that I made last night.....

This one has layers of old, old map paper, and handmade paper with gold flecks in it.

Look at their darling little bird toes - aren't they the cutest things?!

Melted Beeswax Smells So Good

I'm still working on the beeswax coated birds and crows. I had to take a little break from them, but they're aaaaaalmost finished now!

The melted beeswax makes our house smell wonderful!

These guys just need a little colour (I love using pan pastels), and some black sparkling top hats, and they're done!

The Beloved Glue Brush

This glue brush has seen plenty of action! My mom just can't believe that I use this day in/day out! When the glue globs get too big to fit into the top of the glue jar, I pry them off and start the buildup all over again. (The buildup happens because I rest the brush on top of the open jar, and over time these glue "icicles" form). It's hard for me to let a glue brush go, and when the time comes to finally throw one out, it's hard for me to do! The one thing that tells me that it's time has come, is when the bristles start coming out.

Over the last few nights I've been working on some new crows and birds - as well as some more encaustic panels. Tonight is the night for finishing touches, and voila! tomorrow I'll have some new things!
